Cybersecurity Shield Achieves ISO 21434 Certification for Automotive Security

Chief Security Architect

CUSP has achieved ISO 21434 certification for automotive cybersecurity engineering, becoming one of the first software companies in the industry to meet the comprehensive international standard for cybersecurity management in road vehicles.

The certification, issued by TUV SUD after an extensive audit process, validates that CUSP's Cybersecurity Shield platform meets rigorous international standards for threat assessment, risk management, security controls, and incident response throughout the entire product lifecycle.

The validation scope covers CUSP's entire technology stack including the OTA update delivery pipeline, which was subjected to extensive penetration testing; the sensor fusion network communication protocols; in-vehicle gateway and domain controller security architecture; and cloud-connected services including real-time traffic and map update systems.

"Automotive cybersecurity is not a feature you add at the end, it is a fundamental design principle that must be embedded in every layer of the technology stack," said Dr. Ahmed Hassan, Chief Security Architect at CUSP. "This certification validates our security-by-design approach and demonstrates our commitment to protecting vehicles throughout their entire lifecycle."

Key security capabilities validated include end-to-end encryption for all vehicle-to-cloud communications, hardware security module integration for cryptographic key protection, anomaly detection systems capable of identifying zero-day attack patterns, and automated incident response protocols that can isolate compromised systems within milliseconds.

The certification is increasingly critical as regulatory frameworks worldwide, including UNECE WP.29 regulations in Europe and emerging standards in North America and Asia, mandate certified cybersecurity processes for all connected vehicle systems. CUSP's certification positions the company as a trusted supplier for OEMs navigating these compliance requirements.
