James Chen
James Chen oversees all engineering operations at CUSP, managing teams responsible for navigation, mapping, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps. Before CUSP, he spent 6 years at Google as an Engineering Manager on Google Maps, where his team built the real-time traffic prediction engine used by over 1 billion users daily. He also led the Google Street View coverage expansion across Southeast Asia. At CUSP, James scaled the engineering team from 50 to 300+ engineers and implemented an agile-at-scale methodology that reduced release cycles from 6 months to 3 weeks. He holds an M.S. from MIT and speaks regularly at QCon and GOTO conferences.
Great engineering is invisible. When our technology works perfectly, drivers simply enjoy the ride without knowing the complexity behind it.
